AMÉMÉ
Mixmag Lab London
AMÉMÉ’s Mixmag Lab London session is a globe-trotting, percussion-heavy riot that makes a compelling case for tech house as a vessel for world music, not just looped vocals and snare builds. This is for when you want to dance but also feel vaguely cultured about it. The vibe is a sun-drenched terrace somewhere hot, all organic textures and syncopated rhythms. This is tech house with a strong tribal and Afro-house influence, averaging 122.8 BPM and deftly moving between the keys of 12A and 7A to maintain a bright, open feel.
The energy is grounded in the low-end (0.53) and percussive mids, creating a physical, polyrhythmic drive that’s impossible to stand still to. His mixing is dynamic, often letting tracks run long to showcase their rhythmic complexity, with three of his own originals seamlessly woven in. The track selections are expert: his own 'Raidho - Jaguar Dance (Ameme & NenaHalena Remix)' sets the tribal, vocal-led tone immediately, 'Erre - Always the Same Eyes (Andres Luque Remix)' is a deep, driving roller, 'Notre Dame - La squadra' is a epic, tension-building workout, and 'Bob Ray - Odissey' is the perfect, melodic closing statement. 'Harvard Bass, Bontan & Melé - Dirty Dancing' provides a slick, bass-heavy counterpoint.
He kicks off with the infectious call of 'Raidho - Jaguar Dance', builds a sweaty, percussive frenzy, and offers melodic respite with the extended, groovy journey of the closing track. A live set that transports you without a flight voucher.
