ATLIENS - EDC Las Vegas Virtual Rave-A-Thon
A virtual rave during lockdown? Only ATLIENS could make it feel like a bass-filled catharsis, and we're all hunched over our laptops, pretending the neighbor isn't banging on the wall. The EDC Las Vegas Virtual Rave-A-Thon vibe is pure digital delirium, with visuals straining to compensate for the lack of a sweaty crowd. This ATLIENS live set is a dubstep and bass music barrage, averaging 145 BPM with a dominant 12A key signature for the heavier drops.
The energy balance is more distributed—0.54 low, 0.30 mid, 0.16 high—meaning the mid-range synths and high-end screeches get their moment alongside the sub-bass carnage. Mixing is aggressive and punchy, designed for impact in short, sharp bursts, with transitions that slam rather than blend. For crate diggers, the opener 'Tuesday' by RedTheThing sets a dark, glitchy tone, while DJ Snake & Eptic's 'SouthSide' is a relentless riddim monster.
Izzy Vadim's 'Sleep Paralysis VIP' offers a neurofunk-tinged detour, and the peak moment is undoubtedly the A-Trak remix of Yeah Yeah Yeahs' 'Heads Will Roll', a chaotic, genre-bending anthem that somehow works. The journey kicks off with 'Tuesday', escalates into the chaotic peak of 'Heads Will Roll', and winds down with ATLIENS' own emotive 'Fading Out', a reminder that even in a digital void, we still crave a melody.
