Awakenings Festival 2018 Sunday - Liveset Pan Pot
Area W
Pan Pot at Awakenings Festival 2018 is techno as it should be: relentless, hypnotic, and utterly devoid of compromise, delivered in the pouring rain of Area W with a stern, Berliner frown. The vibe is pure Dutch techno pilgrimage—a sea of ponchos and determined faces locked into a 128.8 BPM grid. Technically, this is a masterclass in linear, driving techno, with the set split almost evenly between the dark, propulsive key of 12A and the more melancholic 3B, creating a push-pull tension that never resolves, only evolves. The energy is overwhelmingly low-end (0.76 avg), a tectonic rumble that makes the high hats feel like shards of ice on a concrete floor. Mixing is efficient and powerful, with long blends that stack elements into a monolithic wall of sound.
For crate diggers, it’s a survey of peak-time weapons. Mario Più’s ‘Serendipity (Mas Mix)’ is a timeless, driving classic, while Andy Compton’s ‘That Acid Track’ does exactly what it says on the tin. RudeBoyz’s ‘Mercedes Song’ offers a cheeky, vocal hook, and Homie Johns’ ‘Back To the Beat’ is a raw, jacking tool. Marcos Grijo’s ‘Alone Under the Moonlight’ provides a moment of atmospheric depth, and the Fatboy Slim vs. Fedde Le Grand ‘Praise You’ remix is a surprising, euphoric left-turn.
Wehbba’s ‘Process’ is a modern, intricate beast. The journey from the unknown opener through the six-minute pressure of DJ One Finger & Tim Taylor’s ‘One Finger’ closes with the sampledelic, looping release of ‘Gypsy Woman’. This Pan Pot liveset tracklist is for when you want the machine to take over.
