Fred again..
Boiler Room : London
We are all, at some point, that person hunched over a laptop, weeping gently to a Fred again.. piano loop while the central line rattles past—his iconic Boiler Room London set is the ultimate validation of that specific, publicly-private emotional meltdown. The vibe in that room is palpable, a collective intake of breath every time a new, heart-wrenching vocal snippet drops over a skittering breakbeat. Fred again.
crafts his live set as a diaristic electronica journey, weaving between 125 and 143 BPM with most tracks anchored in the relatable, hopeful key of 12A. The energy profile is fascinating, with mid-range elements (avg_mid 0.58) dominating—those aching pads, manipulated vocal cries, and melodic textures—while the low-end provides a steady, empathetic throb rather than a club destroyer. His mixing is tactile and performative, live-triggering samples and building tension through repetition before the cathartic drop. As a crate digger, the pleasure is in the originals: 'Tanya (maybe life)' is a devastatingly beautiful opener, 'Kammy (like i do)' is a percussive, joyful weapon, and 'Delilah (pull me out of this)' is pure, anthemic release.
The inclusion of Tassilo Hagström's 'Berlin' is a deep, heads-down moment of respect for the underground. The journey is intensely personal: it opens with the fragile hope of 'Tanya', peaks in the communal singalong of 'Danielle (smile on my face)', and closes on that same track, leaving the room in a state of exhausted, smiling unity. It’s a full tracklist of vulnerability as power.
