Keep Hush Live X Relentless: Without Limits
Manuka Honey’s set for Keep Hush Live X Relentless is a glorious celebration of dem bow rhythms and Latin urban swagger, proving that a 124.7 BPM groove can be just as lethal as any four-to-the-floor kick. The 'Without Limits' brief is taken literally, traversing reggaeton, dembow, and Afro-Latin club with irresistible flair. The vibe is sweaty, percussive, and overwhelmingly fun, a masterclass in rhythm-driven euphoria where every shaker and snare roll hits the spot. Technically, the set weaves through a 97-140 BPM range, using the melodic warmth of the 12A and 10B keys to glue together disparate rhythms.
The energy is perfectly split between the low-end thump and the mid-range melodic and vocal hooks, creating a dynamic, infectious bounce. Manuka Honey’s mixing is rhythmic and playful, often using drops and cuts to maximize impact. The selection is a pan-American party starter: DJ Chinwax’s 'BADMAN' opens with aggressive, digital dancehall. Natoxie’s 'Fanm Paka Mérité Mwen' brings Haitian kompa flavor, and Jowel Y Randy’s 'Hey Mister' is a reggaeton singalong classic.
The mammoth 'Bendecido' by El Alfa & FARIANA is a peak-time dembow anthem, while B I L L Y G & DJ Lycox’s 'Gasolina' filters baile funk through a raw, contemporary lens. The journey kicks off with digital aggression, rides a wave of Caribbean heat and reggaeton romance, and closes on the hypnotic, repetitive chant of Leka el Poeta’s 'Ella Quiere Hmm… Haa… Hmm… (Yayo Remix)', leaving us in a trance.
