Reinier Zonneveld
Awakenings Festival 2025
Sometimes a set feels less like a musical journey and more like being strapped to a rocket sled headed directly into a wall of noise, and Reinier Zonneveld's Awakenings Festival 2025 live set is exactly that kind of beautiful, chaotic punishment. It's hard techno at its most unapologetic and industrial, a gleeful demolition derby of sound. The vibe is pure carnage: a mosh pit forming around the synth rig, strobes firing like machine guns, a general sense of delightful abandon.
Technically, it's a wild ride, with a BPM range soaring from 143 up to 176, averaging a frenetic 158, and jumping between keys like 12A and 6A with reckless abandon. The energy profile is brutally mid-forward, dominated by distorted kicks, screeching acid lines, and punishing percussion, with Zonneveld's live tweaking adding a layer of unpredictable fury. The mixing is raw and energetic, favoring quick cuts and overlays that amplify the chaos.
For those brave enough to Shazam, the tracklist is a treasure trove of hardcore edits: 'Ueberrest - Cryptic (Kobosil Hart Mix)' is a slab of pure industrial gloom, while 'Bountyhunter - Woops (Dimitri Vegas & Junkie Kid Remix)' is a ridiculous, festival-baiting bomb. The lengthy 'KRYZION - VIELLEICHT VIELLEICHT' remix is a marathon of relentless pressure, and the opener, a sample of Pat Metheny, is an almost comically serene fake-out. It begins with that acoustic guitar snippet, accelerates into the brutal peak of the 'KRYZION' track, and ends with the chaotic, tongue-in-cheek rework of Nena's '99 Luftballoons'.
