SONNY FODERA in The Lab NYC
Sonny Fodera in The Lab NYC; the sound of a thousand Shazams failing simultaneously as he drops another slick, unreleased edit, and we wouldn't have it any other way. The vibe is glossy, high-energy, and impeccably curated, a masterclass in modern, accessible tech-house. Hovering around 124 BPM and primarily in the 12A key, with savvy excursions into 7A and 3B, the set is built on a foundation of punchy, rolling basslines (0.54 avg low energy) and catchy vocal hooks. The mid-range (0.37 avg) carries the melodic interest, while the high-end (0.09) is used for crisp percussion and buildup effects, creating a dynamic but consistently danceable flow.
The mixing is tight and energetic, designed for maximum crowd engagement. The tracklist is a hit parade for the informed. Mat.Joe's 'Heart to Find' is a driving, melodic opener that sets the tone. SOFI TUKKER's 'Awoo' is a populist banger deployed with precision.
The inclusion of Years & Years' 'King' via The Magician's remix is a genius bit of crossover. Dirty Vegas' 'Days Go By' is a nostalgic deep cut that still kills. Nana K & Ben Champell's 'Rapid Zone' remix and Tony Romera's 'All I Know' edit provide the tech-house meat, while Sam Paganini's 'Rave' offers a tougher, peak-time edge. It all begins with the deep, dubby tones of Oli Hannaford's 'If You Wanna' remix, builds through a series of vocal-led peaks, and culminates in the infectious, festival-ready closure of 'Awoo', leaving no one standing still.
