Yellow Claw
Tomorrowland Belgium 2018
Digging into Yellow Claw's Tomorrowland 2018 tracklist is like finding the blueprint for a controlled explosion—a mix of trap, hardstyle, and unapologetic bass music designed to turn the stage into a mosh pit. This is festival trap and hard dance at its most energetic, a far cry from subtle house grooves. The atmosphere is pure chaos, with the Barong stage likely vibrating from the sheer force of 808s and distorted synths. Technically, it's a high-octane sprint at an average 150 BPM, using the aggressive 12A and 12B keys to maintain a sense of relentless urgency. The energy balance (avg_mid 0.48) shows a focus on mid-range punch and screeching leads, perfect for headbanging and rail-riding.
Mixing is fast and furious, often employing quick cuts and dramatic buildups to keep the tension at a breaking point. The BPM range from 136 to 162 allows for forays into hardstyle tempos, adding another layer of intensity. Standout tracks are their own arsenal: 'Yellow Claw - Dog Off' is a brutal, minimal trap weapon. 'Public Enemy' with DJ Snake is a crossover bomb of the highest order. 'Flux Pavilion & Yellow Claw - Catch Me' offers a fleeting moment of melodic respite before the next drop.
'Loudest MF' is exactly what it says on the tin—a chest-pounding anthem of defiance. The journey is a relentless assault: it begins with the ominous trap of the 'B18' mix, peaks with the sheer aggression of tracks like 'Last Night Ever', and closes with the bass-heavy question of 'Do You Like Bass?'. A set for those who believe the drop should always be imminent.
