James Grant pres. Movement Vol. 1
Sunset DJ Mix from Goa, India (4K)
Of course we're here, dissecting a sunset mix. It's the classic conundrum: do you actually watch the 4K visuals of Goa, or do you frantically note down every shimmering pad and driving bassline? James Grant's Movement Vol. 1 live set is a masterclass in soundtracking dusk. The vibe is pure coastal serenity, where the music mirrors the fading light, painting the sky with sound. Technically, this is a smooth, progressive house journey locked at an average of 122 BPM, with Grant expertly navigating harmonic terrain anchored in 8B.
The energy arc is a slow, patient burn; the low-end is warm and persistent, allowing mid-range melodies to emerge organically before any high-end theatrics crash the party. His mixing is fluid and almost invisible, prioritizing mood over flash. The crate-digging here is impeccable. Alex Hoevelmann's "37" is a perfect, minimalist opening statement, while Mike Rish's "Tú Attair (Civic Outro Version)" is the emotional core, a sprawling epic of melodic intent. Marco van Lukk's "Butterfly" introduces a lighter, almost balearic touch, and Into The Ether's "Sonoran" provides a deep, textural interlude.
Don't sleep on Bandēs' "Supernova" either—a hidden weapon of driving, atmospheric house. The journey is clear: it begins with the contemplative pulse of "37", builds to the soaring peak of "Tú Attair", and dissolves into the enigmatic, closing ambience of 이화's "새계". A full tracklist worth the search.
